Child Health
At Tully Family Practice, we provide additional expertise in Baby and Child Health, as both our GPs have a special interest and extra qualifications in this field. Both Dr Fiona and Dr Julie trained in Paediatrics before undertaking specialist training in General Practice. Dr Fiona worked in paediatrics for over 2 years, mostly in Crumlin Children’s Hospital in emergency, cardiology and respiratory departments, but with time also spent in Neonates (newborn medicine) in the Coombe Hospital. Dr Julie worked for 3 years up to Paediatric Registrar level, with time spent in emergency, developmental paediatrics, diabetes and endocrine, dermatology and neonates. Both obtained Membership of the Royal College of Physicians in Child Health, a qualification held by all paediatric specialists, but only a small number of GPs in Ireland.
As mothers of young children themselves, they understand the challenges and worries that parents face when their babies or children are unwell. They know from experience not to underestimate a parent’s instinct when they feel their child “just isn’t right”.
We aim to provide same-day appointments when your child is unwell and needs to be seen urgently- always let reception know when you feel it cannot wait until the next day and, if possible, make the request early in the day.
We have signed up for the under 8 scheme, which provides free GP care to children up until the age of 8 and are delighted to be able to provide this service.
We see infants for the free 2 week and 6 week check following birth, as part of the Combined Antenatal Care scheme.
We provide routine infant vaccinations as part of the HSE immunisation schedule, which are free.
